Ok – just a quick note because I’m feeling like I’m leaving a few people wondering what I’ve been doing lately. Not with the sewing… I’m lucky to be constantly sewing! But with a few regular series’ on the blog that might seem to have disappeared.
1) Sewing Survey Saturday
- I have fallen off the track on this one. Unfortunately I’ve found it is reasonably difficult to post on Saturdays – even if they are relatively quick to write. This may disappear for a while and come back in the fall once everything returns to a more normal schedule.
2) Made by Me Monday
- I was feeling quite a bit of pressure to post on Mondays with this series. Due to my “No Stress” sewing resolution I decided that it was better to post on an different day than to rush a stressed post on Mondays. I’m still posting “Made by Me” things every week, just maybe not on Mondays.
3) Quiet Book Sew-Along
- Don’t worry, we are still on track to finish by the end of November. To be completely honest, I am feeling a tad de-motivated, since I’m not sure anyone is actually sewing-along! But, I want to finish the series, and I should not use that as an excuse… so I will get back to it! Promise! And if you are sewing along, I’d love to know you are out there and I’m sorry for the delays lately.
Hope that helps catch everyone up! Have a wonderful rest of the weekend and we’ll talk again soon, and because “every post needs a photo and it’s fun to look at fabric”, here’s a fun (un-sponsored) shot of some fabric I got recently from my local online-turned-brick-and-morter-shop, Mad about Patchwork.
Hi Sherri,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having a slump. I can totally understand, and I don’t have two adorable little girls and a husband to wrangle! I have to admit that I don’t always sew-along, but I love to see them, and a lot of times I save the ideas/patterns to use for later. My favorite thing is to see the adorable outfits you make for those little dolls, especially since you go way off the pattern sometimes to make it more personalized. I am in awe of that! I made my 3 oldest (all boys) clothes for years, but never swerved from the patterns. People tell me I’m talented, but I tell them, no, I’m just good at following directions….lol. I’ll keep coming back every day and seeing what’s going on in your world. If there’s something new – hooray! If there’s not – there’s always tomorrow.
xo Linda
Hey Linda! So sorry to have come across so negatively! I am just finding I’m busy with so many things right now and I need to choose and slow it down a bit. I LOVE blogging and you are amazing. Thank you so much for checking all of the time! That makes my day. π
I love that faux bois! I enjoy reading the quiet book posts but am admittedly not sewing along. I think my son is a little young and I want to wait until he expresses more of his unique interests so I can customize a quiet book once he is older! I can understand how that would be frustrating though :/
Thanks Stephanie! No worries about the Sew-Along, I understand not everyone will be able to do it. I need to give myself a kick and just finish it. Thanks for taking the time to let me know! Hope you had a great weekend.
I love your Quiet book…but admittedly I’m not sewing-along because it’s summer finally, and I’m outside! But I am filing it in my “someday” file so please don’t feel we’re not paying attention. Enjoy your little ones…you can’t get that time back!
I’m so glad you are getting outside Debbie! Thanks so much for taking the time to comment π I know the sew-along would not be universally popular or needed by everyone – I guess it came across like I was more frustrated than I am π I just need a push to get going again, especially now that my daughters want to be outside too! Thanks for the reminder about the girls, it is always good to hear.
Great fabric and congrats to Mad About Patchwork and their new store. That is exciting.
I am also not sewing along with the quiet book but love to see the posts. I so wish my youngest was younger so I could make the book for him. I really love your quiet book. It’s got a little bit of everything and seems super easy. I like seeing the fabrics you chose for your pages as well. In fact, I pretty much love all your fabric choices, like that horse and the floral in your photo above.
Don’t worry I am also slacking in the blogging department but it’s not for being lazy (and I highly doubt that you are either). I’m in home improvement mode and I have sworn to my husband to limit the amount of projects I have going at one time. It takes longer but I feel less scatterbrained, more focused and just as accomplished doing one thing well instead of churning out several okay but could be better things.
It is okay to have lives and be busy and not share it online.
Thank you Eska!I’m so glad you like seeing them. I am hoping to get through the summer and then ramp up because both kids will be in school and I will have some “extra” time π I’m so glad you don’t mind the slow down. Thanks so much for following along! I think I need to be more conscious of how many things I’m taking on, seems they just accumulate without me noticing!
It sounds like you’re putting a lot of pressure on yourself, but it also sounds like you’ve found a way to reduce those stressors, so I hope it works out for you. I’m not doing the sew-along, but I do enjoy your other tutorials.
So true Reece, I am a bit of a perfectionist and am too hard on myself I think. Thankfully the stress reducers are working – hooray. π I’m really excited because I love blogging so much! I’m glad you like the tutorials, and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and follow along!
