Welcome! I’m Sherri Sylvester. I’ve been writing about sewing at Thread Riding Hood since 2012 and I can’t imagine ever doing anything else! I grew up with a mom who sewed, like her mother before her. It was something I did on occasion until my oldest daughter was born – then it proceeded to get a bit out of control, in a good way! The many DIY bloggers fed my obsession and I was hooked.

I spend my days surrounded by fabric, my camera, computer and sewing machine. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t touch something handmade – bags, clothing, home decor, quilts and lots of things for my kids. Most of it ends up on the blog – many of them with a tutorial, so much so that the tutorial list contains 100+ free projects and patterns.

I am so fortunate to be able to be there for my girls when they are home from school. And I get to work at home everyday alongside my husband, who also owns his own business. I love Smarties, plain wavy chips with dip and warm homemade chocolate chip cookies. I also love the smell of my local quilt shops, and the feel of newly purchased fabric along with the possibility it brings.

I hope you can find lots of tips, tricks and inspiration as you find your way around Thread Riding Hood. (Here’s a great place to start exploring!)

Thanks so much for visiting,

P.S. I’d love to hear from you.  Please email comments and questions to sherri@threadridinghood.com and please follow along so you don’t miss more great tutorials and posts:
